Today’s PAS featured teacher is Debbie Crothers. Debbie is a proud Aussie from Waggrakine, West Australia. Debbie has worked in many mediums – felt, acrylic paint, earthen clay, porcelain, and a host of others. When she happened upon polymer clay 19 years ago, it was love at first sight.

Debbie’s Presentation: Resist This!

Resist This is all about creating a crackle surface on raw polymer clay using Repel Gel as the crackle medium. Once the crackle veneer has been created it can be manipulated into three-dimensional shapes or left flat. A number of different resist options will be demonstrated together with mark making techniques to create a manual crackle. A range of mediums will be explored including alcohol ink, pan pastels, chalk pastels, embossing powder and foils to create a variety of veneers for use in finished pieces.

Attendees will learn how to use Repel Gel as a crackle medium and by the end of the session will have a full understanding of what to do and what not to do as far as repel gel goes. They will also have exposure to a few tips and tricks I use with foils, chalk pastels, various resists and more.
