About TIFFANI

Tiffani Smith

Tiffani Smith is a self-taught artist and owner of Sankofa Arts. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Tiffani moved to Columbus, Ohio at the age of 19. Tiffani is no stranger to the arts world. As a poet and performer, Tiffani has commanded local, state and national stages. In 2012, she began making the jewelry that she didn’t see but wanted to wear using an array of mediums including polymer clay, various beads, wire and metal . This jewelry and wearable art represented the things that she values most of all: community, family, and culture.

Tiffani decided to sell her art exclusively in 2017, launching Sankofa Arts online. Since then, she has expanded her work to include not only polymer clay jewelry but fine art as well. Sankofa Arts by Tiffani Smith also houses signature lines “Drum Tongue Leatherworks”; featuring unique leather wearables that are hand cut and hand sewn, as well as “My Hood. My Heart. My Home.”; a line that began as a labor of love to give back to disparaged, marginalized, and pushed out communities in areas of Columbus that have been grossly affected by gentrification.
